Is Instagram Getting Messy Again?

Remember when everyone was in everyone’s business and they took away the activity feed? Well, Instagram is back at it again, being messy—but this time, it’s telling you who deactivated their account.

So, for the people who go through a depressive episode and delete their Instagram page, people MAY be unfollowing you because Instagram is outing you.

Instagram now allows users to see and remove inactive profiles from their follower list. A new category, "Deactivated accounts," appears above your followers list, showing inactive profiles and those flagged for review.

Removing these accounts can improve your engagement rates and reach by ensuring your stats aren’t skewed by inactive followers. It can also enhance ad targeting by allowing you to focus on active, relevant followers.

While the feature helps refine your audience, you may choose to keep inactive accounts if you value a higher follower count. This update is now available in the latest version of Instagram.
